The official reveal for the next game in the Call of Duty franchise was expected to arrive tonight with a teaser trailer on SpikeTV. But the folks at Treyarch decided to do the honors via a blog post on the new Call of Duty web site, which also gives us the upcoming game's name: Black Ops.

Treyarch's first blog post on the sparse Call of Duty: Black Ops web site is short and sweet: "We at Treyarch are excited to reveal our latest development – Call of Duty: Black Ops! Be sure to head over to CallOfDuty.com/blackops as more details begin to unfold! Follow @JD_2020 and @Treyarch on Twitter for the latest news & discussions regarding Black Ops."

The homepage on the site still reads "Coming Soon," with no other details on the game yet available other than its release date: 11/9/10.

The site, and the gaming world, will have plenty of info once Black Ops' first teaser trailer launches tonight (officially in the wee hours of Saturday). The developers confirmed with a tweet that trailer will air at 12:40 a.m. on SpikeTV.
