Es metal progresivo, el cantante tiene otra banda que se llama a perfect circle que si.. es rock pesado alternativo... pero tool es una onda king krimson medio dark y bastante mas violento :D.
Es progresivo en el sentido de que rayan lo virtuoso (tampoco la pavada de dream theater) pero tiene una composicion INCREIBLE.
