Bueno, evidentemente vemos cosas distintas. Pasemos a algo más concreto. ¿Qué problema tenés con la idea de que es menos rentable contratar a una mujer si sólo le das licencia a ella y no a su pareja cuando tiene un hijo? Es lo más importante. Iría más lejos y abarcaría las adopciones también, daría exactamente el mismo tiempo porque creo que causa menos problemas darlo que no darlo. Es una cuestión del Estado honrando y poniendo un granito de arena a la formación de familia, que consideramos un pilar de la sociedad, no se trata meramente de un alta médica por todo lo que enumeras que sin duda le pasa a la mujer (yo agregaría la depresión post-parto*). Se dan días de estudio también por ley, 12 por año y no estamos hablando de gente que físicamente no puede ir a trabajar, simplemente consideramos que es necesario ayudar a que la gente pueda hacer ciertas cosas además de trabajar, cosas que en el fondo benefician a todos.

* Sobre la depresión post-parto (que de hecho también afecta hombres) la psicología evolutiva ha venido juntando evidencia diciendo que no es una enfermedad sino un componente central de la actitud reproductiva humana.

Numerous studies support the correlation between postpartum depression and lack of social support or other childcare stressors.[20][26] Kruckman, using observations from anthropological field work, suggests that supportive rituals and knowledge, if projected to the mother in a meaningful and sincere fashion, can affect the hypothalamus, pituitary and adrenal function and the production of endocrine signal molecules, and reduce the expression of anxiety or panic in postpartum women.[27][28]
Mothers with postpartum depression can unconsciously exhibit fewer positive emotions and more negative emotions toward their children, are less responsive and less sensitive to infant cues, less emotionally available, have a less successful maternal role attainment, and have infants that are less securely attached; and in more extreme cases, some women may have thoughts of harming their children.[29][20][30][31][32][33][34][35][36][37] In other words, most mothers with PPD are suffering some kind of cost, like inadequate social support, and consequently are mothering less.[improper synthesis?]

O sea, lo que quiero decir es que el apoyo a madres (no sólo primerizas) es fundamental, principalmente de sus parejas o familiares cercanos. Sobre todo gente de recursos bajos a medios (la gente que trabaja bajo relación de dependencia, un dueño de empresa no está obligado a dejar de ir, ni le hace falta). Ahora, familiares cercanos no podemos garantizar que puedan estar, no todos tienen abuelos vivos, ni cerca, ni familiares o amigos con capacidad de asistir a la madre.
